Obituary

Jimmy Ybarra Alvarado, a devoted father from Azle, Texas, passed away peacefully on
February 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves an enduring mark on the lives
of those who knew him. Jimmy was born on May 30, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, and spent
much of his adult life in the Fort Worth, Texas area. He will be remembered for his cheerful
spirit, generous nature, unwavering love, and resilience that characterized his life, despite
illness and hardships.

During his youth, Jimmy spent his summers at his aunt and uncle's farm, discovering the
rewards of nurturing the land and caring for a diverse array of animals. It was in those
formative years that he developed a strong work ethic. While attending Fox Tech High
School in San Antonio, Jimmy seized opportunities to explore his interests, by participating in
the ROTC program, and discovering new skills in welding and woodworking classes.
As an adult, Jimmy was known as a jack-of-all-trades. There was little he could not do.
Whether it was fixing something, his hands were gifted with the ability to build, repair, and
nurture, approaching each challenge with attention to detail and a deep sense of purpose.
His heart was defined by boundless love and selflessness; he valued the simple things in life,
such as listening to music, recounting stories, enjoying simple meals, and most of all
spending time with family.

A devoted father, Jimmy is survived by his five children and their spouses: Jimmy Jr. of Lake
Worth, Texas; Debi Alvarado Guajardo of San Antonio, Texas; Natalie Russell and husband
Wriley of Springtown, Texas; Kristopher Alvarado and wife Jayla of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and
Lily Gamez and husband Sammy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Jimmy is lovingly
remembered by 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. His passing is mourned by his
sisters, Velia Galvan and her husband Carlos, and Linda Birmingham, as well as numerous
nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends, in addition to his immediate family.
Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Arthur Alvarado and Aurora Ybarra Birmingham, his
son Johnny Alvarado, brothers Charles E. Birmingham and Henry Birmingham, whose
memories will forever remain a part of his story. He also mourned the loss of his
grandparents, Gonzalo and Magdalena Ybarra, and aunts and uncles each of whom played
significant roles in his life. Although he is no longer physically present, the love and
kindheartedness he embodied will remain an everlasting presence in the hearts of many.

Jimmy's family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Azle Manor
Nursing Home in Azle, Texas for their compassionate care and unwavering support during
his residence at the facility.
