Jimmie Lee Large, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, in Arlington, Texas, at the age of 76. Born on January 10, 1949, in Jacksonville, Texas, to Clay and Dorothy Large, Jimmie lived a full and vibrant life marked by service, love, and laughter.
Jimmie proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years and continued his commitment in the National Guard for an additional six years. His bravery and dedication earned him a Purple Heart, a recognition he wore with honor and humility throughout his life. He was deeply proud of his military service and often shared stories of his time in uniform.
Outside of his service, Jimmie found joy in the outdoors—fishing, hunting, and soaking up the simple pleasures of life. He was known for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and an unwavering love for his family. A true Texan, Jimmie enjoyed an ice-cold beer, a great steak, and never turned down good Chinese food.
Bowling was one of his favorite pastimes, and it was through this passion that he met the love of his life, Delia M. Large. What began as a friendly game blossomed into a lifelong partnership. Jimmie and Delia shared 41 wonderful years together, 31 of them as husband and wife, building a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, Jimmie never missed a game and always believed in "America's Team" no matter the season. He was a man of strong values, immense heart, and a legacy that lives on through his family.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his father, Clay Large; his grandson, Zakery Gonzales; his son-in-law, Larry Jones; and his daughter-in-law, Sabrina Albritton.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Delia M. Large; his children: Wallace Gonzales and wife Lisa, Ruth Ann Gonzales, and Joseph Gonzales. He also leaves behind a loving legacy in his grandchildren: Mathew, Dana, Markus, Joshua, Michelle, Byron, Linda, Terrance, Joseph Michael, Caleb, and Emily; and great-grandchildren: Bella, Emery, Ian, Adilisa, Violet, Dante, Kaydrea, Sorey, and Zachary.
A graveside inurnment will be held at Azleland Memorial Park, Friday, November 14th @ 2:00PM, located at 850 N. Cardinal Rd., Azle, Texas, 76020.
Jimmie will be remembered for his strength, sense of humor, and deep devotion to his loved ones. He leaves behind a family who will miss him dearly and carry his spirit with them always.
