Jessie was born to John and Snora Brownfield May 21,1938. She was the baby of five children. Jessie grew up in Chickasaw Oklahoma where she met her husband, Jimmy Rogers, whom she married in 1960 in Decatur Texas. They moved from Oklahoma to Texas in 1970 and that is where they started building their family to include seven children: Ronnie Moore, Billy Moore, Donnie Rogers, Jimmy Don Rogers, Dora Godwin, Rusty Rogers and Ricky Dale Rogers. They also had numerous grandkids, great grandkids and great- great grandkids along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Jessie was a fun "always in the go" person. She couldn't sit for too long before she had to find something to do. She liked to pick jokes and make goofy faces just to get someone laughing and she wasn't afraid to do that in public either. Of all the things Sister Jessie was, the number one thing that everyone knew her by was her faith.
Jessie was a God-fearing woman who shined the light of our Lord everywhere she went. She was described as having a "direct line to Jesus" but if you told her that, she would simply say, "so do you if you just reach for it". There was never a church door open that she didn't go through if that's where the Lord led her to be, but the Christ Gospel Pentecostal Church was where she was led the most. Jessie guided so many people to the Lord through His word and her prayers, but she was never to be mistaken or called a preacher as she would tell you, " No, I'm no preacher, I'm just a child of God, a servant of Him,"
And was she ever. She lived her life to serve our Lord and spread his love everywhere she went. Knowing one day, she would be before him, being welcomed into her forever home.
Jessie is preceded in death by parents as well as her husband, Jimmy Rogers; two sisters, Lucille and Eldora; son-in-law, Paul Godwin Sr.; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Rogers; great grandson, Jace Moore, and her youngest son, Ricky Dale Rogers also knows as Little Ricky.
She will forever be missed but always remembered with every prayer her family and friends pray. Jessie, we thank you for leading our family to our Savior and always reminding us that no matter what path we are on, there is only one that leads us to our forever home.
