Jerry Lopez

1968 - 2023

Jerry Lopez "Geezer," beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on August 5, 1968 in Abilene, Texas to Ignacio P. and Emilia Lopez.  Jerry attended Abilene schools and this is where he met the love of his life, Becky Herrera.  They exchanged vows on April 18, 1987 and had just celebrated thirty-six years of marriage.  To their union, three beautiful children were born, Sarah, Daniel and Matthew.

Jerry could always be found outside working on old cars, working on the yard, or grilling with family.  He was an amazing cook when it came to grilling briskets and enjoyed playing Texas Hold 'Em.  Jerry was the owner of SND construction for many years.  There was nothing that he couldn't do and if he didn't know how, he would find a way to get it done.  His accomplishments were many and the things he instilled in his children were to always work hard, respect others, and love and care for your family.

Jerry loved to joke around, but when he needed, he could be serious.  There was nothing that he wouldn't do for others.  His pride and joy were his grandchildren whether it was seeing them at their games, cheering them on, or watching them play outside.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio P. and Emilia Lopez, and two brothers, Pete and Mike Lopez.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Becky; children, Sarah (Chava) Sanchez, Daniel (Hannah), and Matthew Lopez; brothers, Jack and Angel Lopez; half-brother, Johnny Lopez; half-sister, Anna Lara; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Jacob, Dakota, Cora, James, Joseph, and Tobias; and a host of extended family and friends.

Jerry touched many lives and leaves so many people that treasured his friendship.  He will be greatly missed by all those that he loved and that loved him.

Pall bearers will be his nephews: Fernando Lopez, Isaac Lopez, Frank Lopez, Nico Herrera, Christopher Hawthorne and his good friend: Pancho Zepeda

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home at 2:00 PM followed by interment at Azleland Cemetery & Memorial Park.
