James Troy Scoggin ("Troll")
James Troy Scoggin, lovingly known as "Troll," was born on May 15, 1990, in Fort Worth, Texas, and went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of those who cherished him most. He was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brought comfort, strength, and joy to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Troy was a proud and devoted father to his son, Lucas James Scoggin. Being Luke's dad was his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. Whether they were wearing matching outfits at family gatherings, playing video games, or simply spending time together, the bond they shared was undeniable and filled with love. Nothing made Troy happier than being with his son.
Known for his kind heart, steady nature, and humble spirit, Troy never sought attention for himself. Instead, he found joy in serving others, always putting the needs of family, friends, and even strangers before his own. He was the person people could count on, a calm presence during difficult times, a listening ear when needed, and a loyal friend who would show up without being asked. His quiet strength, level-headed wisdom, and genuine compassion left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
An avid Star Wars fan, video gamer, golfer, and lover of time spent with family and friends, Troy appreciated life's simple joys. He didn't need to be the center of attention to make an impact. Through his kindness, authenticity, and unwavering love for those around him, he touched countless lives and made the world a better place simply by being himself.
As a Sergeant in Security at Glen Rose Power Plant, Troy earned the respect of his colleagues through his leadership, integrity, and dedication. More importantly, he was known for his willingness to help others and for treating everyone he met with kindness and respect. His character spoke louder than words, and his influence extended far beyond the workplace.
Troy fought an incredibly difficult battle with extraordinary courage, strength, and determination. Throughout his journey, he was surrounded by an outpouring of love, prayers, support, and encouragement from family, friends, coworkers, and an amazingly compassionate community. His family is forever grateful for every act of kindness, every prayer, every visit, and every gesture of support that carried them through the hardest days.
Along the way, Troy touched the lives of everyone he encountered, including the many nurses, doctors, and medical professionals who cared for him. His resilience, gratitude, kindness, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on those who walked beside him during his journey. The love and compassion shown by his medical teams will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his parents, Buddy and Tammy Scoggin; his son, Lucas James Scoggin; his sisters, Allyson Butler and husband Rusty, and Samantha Gray and husband Cooper; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Braydon, Brinlyn, Hadley Jo, and Swayze Faye, along with countless extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Troy's legacy of love, kindness, humility, and unwavering strength will live on through all who knew him. He taught us the importance of showing up for others, loving deeply, and facing life's challenges with courage and grace.
Troy will be deeply missed and forever remembered. While his time with us was far too short, the impact he made on the lives of others will endure for generations to come.
And as Troy would surely appreciate, we know his adventure isn't over he's simply joined the greatest galaxy of all.
Troy will be having a graveside service, Friday June 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM. This will be held at Azleland Memorial Park, located at 850 N. Cardinal Rd, Azle TX 76020.
