James Robert Hammersley

1947 - 2022

James Robert Hammersley, beloved father, brother, and friend, went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2022. He was born on May 28, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas to Harold Van Hammersley and Cora Louise Crawford.
James spent his weekends gambling at the casinos and playing Bingo.  Every chance he had, he would go watch NASCAR with his daughter, Rebecca, and son-in-law, Thomas, to support his favorite driver, Bobby Labonte.  When James was no longer able to attend, he began playing video games to keep the excitement going from home!  He and his best friend, Jimmy Linthicum, spent countless hours together sharing stories and just enjoying each other's company.  He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  James will always be remembered as the best father and grandfather anyone could ask for.
He has been reunited with beloved wife, Carolyn Hammersley; daughters, Rebecca Massy and Jerrie Lynn Hammersley; son, James Hammersley Jr.; parents, Harold and Cora Hammersley; brothers, Gerold Hammersley and Jackie Hammersley; sister, Jacquetta Brown; and grandson, Cody Hammersley, in God's Eternal Kingdom.
James will be deeply and lovingly missed by his daughters, Dana Odell and Melinda Porter; granddaughters, Misty Trudell, Kortney Hammersley, and Brittany Odell; grandsons, Tristen Hammersley and Dusty Hammersley; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Chapel beginning at 1:00 PM with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 PM.  Interment will be held at Ash Creek Cemetery in Azle, Texas immediately after the service.
