Obituary

Jacqueline Ann Ford
November 1, 1944 – September 5, 2025

Jacqueline Ann Ford (Jacky) was born November 1, 1944, the daughter of John Taylor
Ford and Annabelle (Leczner) Ford, in Chicago, IL.
Jacky's father served 30 years in the Air Force. Jacky and her three brothers became Air
Force "brats" having the opportunity to live in Albuquerque, NM; Novato, CA; Nagoya, Japan:
Washington D.C.; Warner Robbins AFB, Georgia; Ramstein AFB and Wiesbaden AFB, both in
Germany. While living in Germany, Jacky graduated from Kaiserslautern High School. Jacky had
two cousins attending the University of Texas, so she decided to join them. The three girls were
all members of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Jacky loved to read so she decided to major in
English.
After college, she decided to move to San Francisco, CA. She was a free spirit ready for
adventure. Her love of fashion led her to her first job as a sales representive for the 1928
jewelry company. After 10 years she decided to use her English degree and became a librarian
for the Marin County Library. Part of her responsibilities was driving a bookmobile to remote
locations which she loved. She was able to retire from this after 20 years.
In 1971, Jacky was introduced to Clifford (Cliff) George Shatos, a landscape architect
who had moved to California seeking adventure as well. They were married on April 25, 1980 in
Marin County, California. They loved San Francisco and all it had to offer from the ballet to the
museums. The annual Bay Area Renaissance Fair was a favorite event for them. Jacky, an
excellent cook, loved to host dinners for their friends… especially a day-long Thanksgiving feast
which included watching a football game. Cliff loved the sport and they became huge San
Francisco 49er fans.
Jacky and Cliff appreciated the beauty of nature in all of its glory. From their home in
Novato, CA, he and Jacky could hike down to San Pablo Bay or up Mount Tamalpais, bike on the
paths of Point Reyes, or explore the trails of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and
Muir Woods National Monument. Lake Tahoe was also a favorite vacation spot. They traveled
extensively to visit family during holidays or to attend special events. They also traveled
abroad; some of their favorites were the Galapagos Islands, Hawaii, England, and France.
Due to health concerns in 2021, both Jacky and Cliff moved to retirement homes near
Fort Worth, TX, to be close to family.
Preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Shatos, her mother and father. Jacky is
survived by her brothers: James Ford (Jerry Ruth), John Ford (Janice), Jerry Ford (Pamela);
brother-in-law: Charles Shatos; nieces: Shelley Shatos, Shannon Shatos-Swift, Rebecca
Burbridge, Sarah Rich, Larrisa Ford, Jamie Zacharias, Julia Underwood, Amy Roppolo, and Annie
Grashoff; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Fort Worth, followed
by a service at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
memorial gifts to be made to the non-profit of your choice or the Azle Library Trust which
