Harvey Vinson Williams Jr.
July 25, 1935 - October 18, 2026
Harvey Vinson Williams Sr., lovingly known as Papa Harvey, was born on July 25, 1935, in Slaton, Texas, in Lubbock County. He passed away on October 18, 2026, at the age of 91, leaving behind a lifetime of love, cherished memories, and a family who will forever hold him close to their hearts.
Harvey graduated from Post High School in 1954 and began working as a butcher when he was just a teenager. Throughout his life, he worked for numerous grocery stores, earning a reputation as one of the hardest-working men you could ever meet.
Harvey was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 71 years, Joyce Williams. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, love, and lasting memories.
Harvey was a man who believed in hard work, taking care of his family, and helping others. He was always willing to lend a hand, fix something that was broken, or offer his opinion on how something should be done. He had a natural ability to take charge, and those who knew him understood that Harvey liked things done the right way.
He had a special love for clocks and enjoyed collecting and repairing them. His family often joked that he had more clocks than anyone could possibly need. He was also a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed gambling. But above all else, Harvey loved his family.
Harvey was known for his affectionate nature. He never hesitated to give a hug or a kiss, and his family will always remember the love he so freely shared.
Harvey is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Williams, and their four children: Bonnie Rodriguez and her husband, Agapito; Dana Kimbro and her husband, Ken; Carol Nagy and her husband, Erin; and Vince Williams and his wife, Dana.
His grandchildren include Eric Wayne Cearley, who preceded him in death; Tonya Perez and her husband, Jose; Misty Burross and her husband, James; Stacy Beaver and her husband, Brad; Candice Miksovsky and her husband, Jason; Chris Nagy and his wife, Lauren; Shawn Nagy and his wife, Marah; Kenny Kimbro and his wife, Delissa; Jacob; Nick Nagy and Jillian; Matthew; Zachary; Ashley; and Lindsey.
Harvey also leaves behind a beautiful legacy of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, including Christian, Alecia, Tony, Megan, McCoy, McKynlee, Parker, Collin, Travis, Dillon, Brooklynn, Londyn, Max, Emma, Ellie, Daxton, Brayley, Emmery, Layla, Liam, who preceded him in death, Leah, Logan, Luke, Brayden, Hailey, Jackson, Ryder, Westyn, and Jordyn.
Harvey's legacy will live on through the generations of family he loved so dearly. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his generous heart, his affectionate spirit, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him.
Though his family will miss him beyond words, they find comfort in knowing that the love he gave so freely will remain with them forever.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 26, 2026, from noon until 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Boyd, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., with burial immediately following.
Harvey may no longer be here to fix the clocks, but the time his family shared with him will always be treasured.
