Goldie Faye Yates, born on May 4, 1938, in Bakersfield, California, to Ray and Emma Williams, passed away peacefully at her home in Azle, Texas, on December 2, 2024, at the age of 86. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and a beloved member of her community.
Goldie was married to Ralph Yates for 58 years, and together they built a life filled with love, faith, and family. As a homemaker, she cared for their four children—Kathy, Dwayne, Debbie, and Mike—with unwavering devotion. Goldie was a life-long member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Azle, Texas, where she not only served as a devoted Christian but was also an active member of the church choir.
Her creative spirit and talent in the arts were evident in many aspects of her life. Goldie enjoyed painting, knitting, crocheting, and was especially skilled in cake decorating. She had a special gift for creating beautiful homemade wedding cakes, which she lovingly crafted for young couples to celebrate their special day.
Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Emma Williams, and her beloved husband, Ralph Yates. She is survived by her daughter Kathy Rhodes, son Dwayne Yates and his wife Jonie, daughter Debbie Petrie and her husband Robert, and son Mike Yates. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy. She is further survived by her brother Marion Williams.
A funeral service in celebration of Goldie's life will be held on Saturday, December 7th, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home, 850 N. Cardinal Rd, Azle, Texas, 76020.
Goldie's warmth, kindness, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to experience her love and creativity.
