In Loving Memory of Dorris Caroline Rogers-Sons

Dorris Caroline Rogers-Sons, a radiant soul born on April 27, 1940, in Love County, Oklahoma, peacefully departed this world on December 29, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a beacon of love and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

In 1958, Dorris united in marriage with Claude Sons, embarking on a journey that blessed them with four children. Despite facing the heartache of losing her husband Claude and three beloved children, CA Sons, Phillip Sons, and Kathy Stephson, Dorris' spirit remained resilient.

Dorris transitioned from a devoted homemaker to a career at Manor Care Nursing Home in 1966, where her passion for food services flourished. Over four decades, her commitment led her to the role of Food Service Director. Notably, her daughter Lisa, inspired by her mother's dedication, followed the same path and now holds the same position at the nursing home.

Raised Baptist, Dorris found solace and purpose in her faith. Despite her busy schedule, she remained connected to God, her Sundays dedicated to a unique congregation—the elderly residents she lovingly cared for at the nursing home. Her kindness and nurturing spirit turned the nursing home into her sanctuary, where she shared not only meals but also moments of joy and comfort.

Dorris' connection with God and her love for the elderly defined her. She obtained the Certified Dietary Manager accreditation during her career, a testament to her dedication. Awards and accolades were frequent, not for her prowess in the kitchen, but for her exceptional managerial skills and genuine care for others.

Family was at the core of Dorris' heart. She is survived by her daughter Lisa and son-in-law Les Burgess, who, following in her footsteps, now holds the same position she once did. Grandchildren Sanantha Sons, Ashley and her husband, David Booten, Kristen and her husband, Chuck Allen, and Les Burgess Jr. carry forward her legacy, as do her siblings Sheila Roy, Zella, Raymond, Ben, Jimmy and Troy, along with ten great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Dorris' life will be held at a graveside service on Friday, January 5, at 10 AM at Azleland Cemetery. All who wish to honor the memory of this remarkable woman are invited to join in commemorating a life steeped in love, faith, and unwavering dedication.
