In Loving Memory of Donna Jean Peterson

1950 - 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna Jean Peterson, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on October 15, 2024, in Azle, Texas. Born on April 17, 1950, in Springfield, Illinois, to Warren Lee Harmon and Mary Helen Glossop, Donna was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her.

Growing up in Springfield, Donna's formative years were filled with the love of family and the joy of learning. A dedicated student, she excelled in English and developed a passion for writing that would stay with her throughout her life. Religion was an integral part of her upbringing, instilling in her a strong moral compass and a deep commitment to her faith, which she later shared with her husband, Brian, as they embraced the Lutheran faith together.

Donna's professional journey began at Ben Franklin's, where fate led her to meet the love of her life, Brian Peterson, in 1987. Their connection was immediate and profound, and they married on September 2, 1989. Brian, Donna and her son Brian became a family. In 1992, they joyously adopted their daughter, Katherine, into their family. As a mother, Donna was unwaveringly devoted, nurturing her children with love and creativity, and she was a loving grandmother to Hope Pulliam.

A woman of many talents, Donna was known for her creative spirit. She poured her heart into crafts, scrapbooking, and interior design, transforming her homes into warm, inviting spaces filled with love and beauty. Her green thumb allowed her to cultivate vibrant gardens and craft stunning floral arrangements that brightened any occasion.

Donna's passion extended beyond her creative endeavors; she had a profound love for children, especially those with special needs. As a paraprofessional, she dedicated her time and energy to helping young minds flourish, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched. Her empathy and huge heart were matched only by her love for animals, particularly her dogs, cats, and horses, who brought her immense joy.

The mountains called to her spirit, and Donna cherished the time spent outdoors with Brian, often enjoying their shared love of fishing—moments that solidified their bond and created lasting memories. Her infectious laughter and fantastic sense of humor lit up every room, reminding us all of the joy in life's simple pleasures.

Donna is survived by her beloved husband, Brian Peterson; her son, Brian Pulliam, and his wife, Gayle; her cherished daughter, Katherine Peterson; her granddaughter, Hope Pulliam; and her sister, Karen Schindler, and her husband, Mark. She is also remembered fondly by numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by her kindness and warmth. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and her sister, Judy Still.

A celebration of Donna's life will be held on Friday, October 25, at 2 PM at the Azle Funeral Chapel on the grounds of Azleland Cemetery. In honoring her memory, we invite all who knew her to come together, share stories, and reflect on the beautiful legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of love, creativity, and unwavering faith in the miracles of life.
