Diana Sue Davis, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 61. Born on April 24, 1963, in Verdigris, Oklahoma, Diana was the daughter of Ben and Harriet VanDyke. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Larry VanDyke, and her adored aunt Lila Moss.
Diana's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love and devotion to her family. She married the love of her life, Barry Davis, on September 12, 1985, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they first met while working at Century Chevrolet. Their union was not just a marriage; it was a partnership built on mutual respect, unwavering support, and a shared vision for a life filled with joy. Together, they cultivated a home that radiated warmth and laughter, a sanctuary where their love could flourish.
As a mother, Diana was nothing short of extraordinary. Her children, Felicia and Brandon, the family she nurtured, were the center of her universe. She was a true best friend to them, actively participating in every aspect of their lives. Diana's presence at school functions, sports events, and family outings was a testament to her commitment to being involved in their journeys. Whether they were exploring antique shops, attending estate sales, or simply enjoying time together, Diana's infectious enthusiasm turned even the simplest activities into cherished memories. She taught her children the value of kindness, generosity, and the beauty of life, instilling in them a deep appreciation for family and the world around them.
Diana's passion for the aviation industry was a significant aspect of her identity. As an office manager in aviation, she embraced every opportunity to immerse herself in this dynamic field. Her remarkable ability to identify aircraft by the sound of their engines was a reflection of her dedication and love for the industry. Diana didn't just work in aviation; she thrived in it, finding joy in the intricacies of flight and the camaraderie of her colleagues. Her knowledge and enthusiasm inspired those around her, and her contributions to the field were marked by a tireless work ethic and an unwavering passion for aviation that left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Raised in the Lutheran Church, Diana's faith was an integral part of her life. With the guidance of her beloved aunt Lila, she grew to cherish her relationship with the Lord, later recommitting herself to her faith and finding joy in sharing her testimony and the teachings of Scripture. A devoted follower of Joel Osteen, she even took a memorable trip with her daughter Felicia to witness his ministry in person, further reflecting her deep spiritual connection.
After a year in Tulsa, Diana and Barry returned to Fort Worth, where they created a nurturing home filled with love and joy. Diana's love for the outdoors was boundless. She designed her home with a beautiful deck that allowed her to savor the beauty of nature over cups of coffee. Her backyard was a haven, complete with a fire pit where family gatherings were filled with laughter, warmth, and delicious meals cooked under the stars. On family vacations, she sought out cabins by the lake, eager to immerse herself in the serenity of the great outdoors.
Diana's kindness and generosity were unmatched. Her love language was gifting, and she took immense joy in showering others with thoughtful presents. A passionate advocate for animals, she dedicated her time and resources to animal rescue shelters, believing that every creature deserved love and protection. Diana opened her heart and home to many furry friends, including Saint Bernards and Chow Chows, embodying her belief in the importance of compassion for all living beings.
