David Deen Matheny

1958 - 2022

David Deen Matheny was born at 5:59 AM on May 17,1958 at Cedar -Sinai Hospital to his parents Charles "Chuck" Donald Matheny and Shirley Anne Darnell in Los Angeles, California.  David returned to his Lord and Savior on January 18, 2022 at his home in Fort Worth, Texas.

David met the love of his life, Brenda, in Rock Springs, Wyoming.  Brenda and David shared forty and a half years together where they enjoyed raising six beautiful children together.  David was a mountain of a man that would spend the majority of his time working in various mines around the area he lived.  He was the kind of talented and smart individual that found there was no task that was beyond his abilities.  He was a very skilled and proficient diesel mechanic with heavy duty machinery.  He enjoyed being outdoors as much as possible.  David spent a great deal of his youth hunting and exploring the beautiful mountains of Colorado.  David was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He was very devoted to God and the Latter-Day Saints Church.

David is survived by his mother, Shirley Darnell; two siblings; his daughter, Kimberly Matheny and her husband, Jose Cedeno; his daughter Tanya Souther and her husband Sam; his son, Jeremy Matheny and his wife, Tiffany; his daughter, Christine Matheny; his son, Matthew Matheny and his wife, Erica; twenty-two grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his father, Chuck Matheny; five siblings; his wife, Brenda and their eldest son Jason Matheny.

While the family is greatly saddened by the tremendous loss of this honorable and noble man, they wish for everyone that ever met or knew David as a friend to come help celebrate his life.  A life too short but very well lived.
