Obituary

In Loving Memory of Christopher Allen Ballenger

1986 - 2025

Christopher "Chris" Allen Ballenger passed away on February 6, 2025, at his home in Irving, TX. He was 38 years old. While his exact cause of death is not yet known, Chris had faced multiple health challenges throughout his life due to spina bifida.

Chris was a fighter who defied the odds, overcoming numerous surgeries and medical procedures to live a full and independent life. He was deeply loved and will be forever missed by his adoptive mother and grandmother, Sarah Ballenger; his sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Derek Anderson; his birth father, Ken Ballenger; as well as his extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, stepfather, nephews and countless dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his adoptive father and grandfather, Bill "Papa" Ballenger, his birth mother, Jackie Ballenger, his half brother, Kyle Flournoy, and four beloved grand aunts and uncles, as well as his sweet dog Joy.

Chris had a passion for storytelling, writing, and lively conversations. He was a self-published poet, and he found joy in comic books, wrestling, movies, gaming, football, and spending time with his friends. His sharp wit, determination, and kind heart left an unforgettable impact on those who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Azleland Memorial Cemetery, 850 N Cardinal Road, Azle, TX 76020. A public viewing will take place from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The memorial service will be held between 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM that same day in the viewing room/chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Scottish Rite for Children hospital or Children's Medical Center in Dallas, both of which played a vital role in Chris's life. Without their compassionate care, he may not have reached adulthood, and his family remains eternally grateful for the doctors and nurses who cared for him. A very special thank you to Dr. David Harris Ewalt, MD and Dr. Frederick H. Sclar, MD.

Chris's strength, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
