Cheryl R Johnson Jones

February 3, 1947 — March 6, 2026

Cheryl Rose Jones, 79, of Newark, Texas, passed away on March 6, 2026.

She was born in Fort Worth, Texas on February 3, 1947, to Luther and Elizabeth (Rose) Johnson. Cheryl was a proud graduate of Arlington Heights High School, class of 1965. She carried with her a lifelong appreciation for simple joys and meaningful connections, which shaped the way she lived and loved.

Cheryl was known for her kind, calm spirit and her earthy, free-spirited nature a "flower child" at heart. She believed in natural healing and a holistic way of living, values that reflected her grounded approach to life. She was loving, accepting, and deeply devoted to her family. She would always listen without judgment and was endlessly supportive of anything her family chose to do, offering encouragement, understanding, and unconditional love. In both quiet moments and shared laughter, she made sure those around her felt valued, safe, and loved.

She loved all animals, especially horses and finicky cats, and found joy in their companionship. She also had a deep appreciation for imagination and storytelling, enjoying science fiction and anything to do with dragons. Cheryl loved reading, wrote short stories, and was a gifted artist, expressing her creativity in ways that brought beauty and meaning to her life and to those who knew her.

She is survived by her brother, Bill Johnson & family; her children, Tony Tout, Teri Tout, Glenn Tout, and Jason Tout; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Mark Jones.

A celebration of life will be held for the family at a later date.
