Charles "Chuck" Lee West

Charles "Chuck" Lee West, a devoted family man, honorable veteran, and steadfast friend, passed away on February 19, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 69. Born on October 19, 1955, in Waco, Texas, to Ed Franks and Rose Brasier-Goltz, Chuck lived a life defined by loyalty, integrity, and an unwavering love for his family and country.

Chuck spent his early years in Waco before moving to Fort Worth during middle school. After graduating from high school, he answered the call of duty and enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division. Chuck relished the thrill of airborne jumps and found joy in the camaraderie and discipline that military life provided. For eight years, he dedicated himself to the service of his country, carrying with him the values of honor, resilience, and courage that would shape his life forever.

Following his military service, Chuck pursued higher education at Tarrant County Junior College. His faith, deeply rooted in the Baptist tradition, guided him throughout his life, providing him with moral strength and direction as he raised his beloved family.

During his time in the Army, Chuck married Marcy, and together they shared six years of marriage, welcoming two wonderful children, Chuck Jr. and Julie. Though their paths eventually diverged, Chuck remained a devoted father, cherishing every moment spent with his children.

In 1983, fate introduced him to his soulmate, Pamela Reid. From the moment they met, there was an undeniable magic—a bond so strong that they became inseparable. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their three sons, Christopher, Roger, and Robert, and seamlessly blending their family with unconditional love and unity. Chuck's quiet strength and deep commitment to his loved ones set the foundation for a household filled with warmth and togetherness.

For 26 years, Chuck worked with pride and dedication as a superintendent for Jeff Eubank Roofing Company. His expertise and work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues, and he took immense satisfaction in the work he did. He was a man who believed in the value of hard work, and his craftsmanship and leadership were second to none.

Chuck had a quiet demeanor, never one to make a fuss over gifts or celebrations, yet his love for his family was boundless. He ended every conversation with "I love you," ensuring that his affection was never left unspoken. Though reserved in nature, he was always present—dependable, supportive, and unwavering in his devotion to his wife, children, and grandchildren.

An exceptional grandfather, Chuck delighted in gathering his family around the backyard grill, where he would cook up his legendary burgers, potato salad, and pinto beans. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—karaoke nights, rounds of golf with his sons and granddaughter, traveling with his beloved Pam, and setting sail on cruises with friends and family. His signature toast with a Budweiser in hand was a staple at every gathering, and if a restaurant didn't serve his favorite beer, he was known to find somewhere else that did. Casinos also held a special place in his heart, where he enjoyed playing the slots and embracing the thrill of the game.

Chuck leaves behind a loving and heartbroken family: his devoted wife, Pam West; his son, Charles Lee West Jr. and his wife Erin; his daughter, Julie Ortiz and her husband Anthony; his son, Christopher West and his wife Viktoria; his son, Roger West and his wife Karolina; and his son, Robert West and his wife Wendi. He is also survived by 16 cherished grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, his mother, Rose Goltz, and her husband Tom; and his siblings, Vickie, James, Cindy, and Edward, as well as a host of extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Franks.

Chuck's life will be honored in a Celebration of Life service on Wednesday, March 5. A visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by a service at 10:00 AM at the Azle Funeral Chapel on the grounds of Azleland Cemetery. Later that afternoon, at 2:00 PM, he will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to his country and family.

Chuck West lived a life of quiet strength, steadfast loyalty, and deep love. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, sacrifice, and family unity that will be cherished for generations to come. Though he may no longer be physically present, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. In his honor, raise a Budweiser, share a laugh, and hold your loved ones close—just as he always did.
