In Loving Memory of Cathia Scherele Watson

1964 - 2025

On April 19, 1964, the world welcomed Cathia Scherele Redwine, a beautiful, bright-eyed baby girl born to Barbara Kay and Leonard Redwine Sr. She was the eldest of four children-Jan, Leonard Jr. ("Man"), and Johnny Sr. Affectionately known as "Love," she was admired for her radiant smile, striking Redwine eyes, and graceful presence.

Love spent her childhood in both Denver and Texarkana. She graduated with honors from East High School in 1982, where she proudly played basketball and participated in ROTC. Following graduation, she embarked on a distinguished military career, first serving in the Air Force as an Elite Military Police Officer before later joining the Army as a Water Purification Specialist. During her service, she was deployed to Iraq, where she fought in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, earning the prestigious Bronze Star for her bravery. On October 1, 1983, Love married her devoted husband, Robert Sr., in Fort Worth, Texas. After receiving an honorable discharge from the military, she and Robert built a loving family, welcoming three wonderful children: Janethia, Shikinah, and Robert Jr. Love found joy in nature, taking peaceful walks with her loved ones and cherishing long conversations with family and friends. She had a gift for bringing people together, often hosting barbecues filled with laughter, warmth, and hospitality— no one was ever a stranger in her presence. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted member of the House of Joy Miracle Deliverance Church, where she served passionately in various ministries. She was honored to stand as Elect Lady Carolyn Beechum's Armor Bearer and found purpose in teaching Sunday School. Above all, Love was a true prayer warrior and a woman anointed by God.

On the morning of February 27, 2025, Love peacefully transitioned into eternal rest. Her legacy lives on through her beloved husband, Robert Sr.; their three children, Janethia (Johnnie Buckley), Shikinah, and Robert Jr.; her sister, Janet Redwine-Marsh (Dwight Marsh); nephews Jauan, Rashad, Urijah Sr., and Ki; and niece Kiona. She is also survived by the family of her late brother, Leonard Jr. (Mikacey Redwine), including nephews Axum, Addis, and Tigray; her brother Johnny Gilbert and nephew Johnny Jr.; sister-in-law Lisa, nephew Chris, and niece Dorothy; her cherished granddaughter Ayva; great-nephew Urijah Jr.; great-niece Sahar; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, parents, and younger brother.
