Carolyn Nanette Fritts

1945 - 2023
Carolyn Nanette Vaughan Fritts, 77, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin & friend, sadly left us on Thursday, January 26th, 2023 after a lengthy battle with COPD.

The youngest of 5 children, Carolyn was born on September 1, 1945 in Decatur, TX to Sam & Willie Lee Vaughan.  She was a long-time Azle resident, spending her early childhood living in Briar, TX & attending Azle Schools. She married Sam Fritts 33 years ago, on March 24, 1989.  Sam went above & beyond taking such loving care of her the last four tough years of her illness.
Carolyn couldn't speak enough about the love & pride she had for her children, Kelly, Kevin, Bo, Sara & daughter-in-law, Patty & grandson, Memo.
Always a hard worker, Carolyn worked for many years in retail at Ross Stores and a few others.
She was a country music fan & often enjoyed attending her favorite country & western musicians' concerts throughout her whole life!  Carolyn always raved and reminisced on her favorite memories from the concerts she had attended.
To spend any length of time with Carolyn meant you were going to bust out laughing at some point at one of her funny, witty, wise-cracking remarks, observations or comebacks!
As her health gradually worsened and began to keep her homebound and isolated, Carolyn discovered social media & began Interacting with newfound friends over shared cooking interests.  She formed many new and endearing friendships in many states, whom she dearly loved and appreciated.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Sammy T. Vaughan & Charles W. Vaughan.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Sam Fritts, of Azle; 4 Children and their spouses, Kelly Pilant of Springtown, Kevin Pilant (Patty) of Saginaw, Bo Fritts of Azle and Sara Fritts of Ft. Worth; 2 grandchildren, Randall Pilant & Javier(Memo)Avila; sister, Helen Buchanan(Jimmy) of Corsicana; brother, Mike Vaughan of Springtown;  sister-in-law, Nina Vaughan of Azle;  brother-in-law, Jerry Fritts of Huntsville, Arkansas; 19 nieces & nephews, (who each knew they were loved by their Aunt Carolyn their whole lives!) her Pasadena, TX cousins, Larry, Myrtle, Dolores, Kirby, Betty and Sharon; her many friends; and last, but not least, her precious, devoted, 10yr old rescue, chiweenie dog, Channie!
Carolyn will be dearly missed by all who knew & loved her.

A Graveside service will be held on February 2, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Azleland Cemetery and Memorial Park.
