Brian Thomas Shumway (Buzz), age 61, of Azle, TX, passed away on January 19, 2022. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY to Robert Lee Shumway and Lily Eva D'atillio. Brian grew up in a large family with four brothers and one sister in upstate New York. In 1978, he graduated from Au Sable Valley Central High School. At age 21, he moved to Texas and began working as the Assistant Manager at the E-Z Way Market in Euless, TX. During this time, he met a woman named Constance and they fell in love and married. Within two years they had started a family, complete with two daughters, named Lily and Kate. Several years after that marriage ended he then moved from Euless to Springtown and began attending a church, where he met his second wife. Together they had a daughter Brianna and a son Chase. Shortly after the birth of his son, his marriage ended. This did not discourage him from being a kind and devoted father to his children. It was of the utmost importance to Brian and he did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. He returned to Euless to be closer to his children and started his career as a Maintenance Engineer at Federation of State Medical Boards. During his 14 years there, he made several life-long friends. Brian truly cared for all people in general. He never met a person that he could not strike up a conversation and bond with. He could win anyone over with his one-of-a-kind humor and persuasive character. In addition to his caring nature, he often donated to multiple charities and churches. In his free time, he loved to hunt, fish and spoil his grandchildren, as well as his multiple pets. Fishing was something that Brian found relaxation in and enjoyed almost as much as spending time with his children and grandchildren. Brian is survived by his children, Lily Burrhus and her husband Paul of Azle, Kate Shumway of Fort Worth, Brianna James and Chase James. Grandchildren, Elyana and Grayson Burrhus as well as his brothers, Rob Shumway Jr., Rick Shumway, Tim Shumway, John Shumway and his sister Cyndi Crossland. He was preceded in passing by his father Robert Lee Shumway and his mother Lily Eva D'atillio Shumway. His celebration of life will be held at Azleland Memorial Park on February 19, 2022 at 2:00pm. His loved ones will be present to welcome family and friends.
