IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bonnie Ray
Martin
April 8, 1938 – May 26, 2020
Bonnie was born on April 8, 1938 in Crockett, Tx. To Warner Ray and Mary Iwilda Leediker. Bonnie grew up in Houston and at 18 years old she met a wild, handsome sailor, the love of her life, named Billy Charles Martin. They eloped in Liberty, Tx on April 24, 1956 and se0led in Houston, Tx. Along with Bonnie came Michael Ray whom they loved like a son.
As a traditional couple in the 1950's Billy kept Bonnie barefoot and pregnant, ultimately bringing forth in 1958 the apple of her daddy's eye, Terry Lynn. Next came daddy's little buddy, Charles David in 1964.
Billy and Bonnie loved the outdoors and loved the night life. Together they saw some of the greats in their early years like Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. In fact, one night, Billy punched Willie Nelson in the nose for trying to dance with his young wife, Bonnie.
Much like the Jeffersons of sitcom fame they all transitioned to the Poly area of Fort Worth then moved "it on up" to Colleyville (long before it was ritzy). From there, like Green Acres, they moved into an Army tent on 36 acres in Poolville. As Billy was working on the road and leaving Bonnie and the 3 kids with too many hogs to handle on the farm. Much to Billy's surprise, Bonnie sold everything and moved the young family to the thriving metropolis of Briar, Tx where they ultimately settled down. Long before cell phones, Billy was informed by his dispatcher that his wife left a number for him to contact her, 1-800-NO MORE PIGS.
On a more serious note . . . Bonnie was preceded in death by Billy, her husband of 59 years; their son Charles David; and their infant son, Billy, Jr.
Survivors include her son, Michael Maiche and wife Darlene of Shepherd, Tx.; daughter Terry Thomas and husband Kenny of Azle; sister Edna Odom of Houston; brother Jerry Leediker and wife Lauren of Petal, MS; grandsons Jason Thomas and wife Amber of Azle; Matthew Thomas of Fort Worth and Andrew Thomas of Keller; great grandsons Gatlin Thomas; Odayin McBride; Crea Simmons and Charles Thomas, plus a host of Nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
