Billy Wayne Ritchey (July 30, 1942 - June 10, 2023)

Billy Wayne Ritchey, a devoted husband, proud Marine Corps veteran, and passionate family man, passed away on June 10, 2023, in Decatur, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on July 30, 1942, in Fort Worth, Texas, Billy was the son of Loyd Ritchey and Anna Mae Knotts-Ritchey.

Billy's love for his country was evident from a young age. He served with honor in the United States Marine Corps, dedicating four years of his life to defending the principles he held dear. After his military service, Billy continued to contribute to society in numerous ways, always seeking opportunities to make a positive impact.

Among his various passions, Billy had a special affinity for collecting junk. It was a hobby that brought him joy and allowed him to discover hidden treasures in unexpected places. However, above all, Billy cherished his family. He was a loving husband to Millie Ritchey, sharing 56 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Billy is survived by his son, Greg Swift, and Greg's wife Shelli. He is also survived by Troy Swift and his wife Patti who was a source of immense pride and joy for him. As well as his daughter, Shannon Marriott and his sister Carolyn Penn. Billy's legacy extends through six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his life.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Anna Mae Ritchey, as well as his brother, Don Ray Ritchey. Their memories will forever live on, and their love will continue to inspire those who knew them.

In addition to his love for family, Billy found pleasure in riding his four-wheeler along the roads, collecting cans for recycling. His dedication to environmental sustainability was commendable, and he played an active role in promoting recycling within his community.

Drag racing was another passion that brought excitement and camaraderie into Billy's life. The thrill of speed and competition ignited his spirit, creating lasting memories and friendships within the racing community.

Billy Wayne Ritchey will be remembered for his unwavering patriotism, deep love for his family, and his commitment to making a difference in the world. His legacy serves as a reminder to us all to cherish our loved ones, pursue our passions, and leave a positive impact on the world around us.
