In Loving Memory of Bettye Jean Glenn
1933 - 2025
Bettye Jean Stewart-Glenn, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, entered into eternal rest on August 14, 2025, in Azle, Texas, at the age of 92. She was born on April 1, 1933, in Fort Worth, Texas, to her devoted parents Jesse Stewart and Clementine Roller-Stewart.
Bettye's life began with both love and challenge. Her father passed away when she was only 13 months old, leaving her mother to carry the family through years of strength and perseverance. She grew up in Grapevine, Texas, alongside her siblings: brothers Jake Genador, Travis Stewart, Jessie Stewart, and sister Dorothy Stewart- McDowell. All of her siblings have preceded her in death, and they are now joyfully reunited in eternity.
Raised in the Assembly of God church, Bettye developed a deep faith in God that became the foundation of her life. That faith guided her in every season, shaping her into a woman of kindness, resilience, joy, and devotion.
Bettye was a woman of many talents and countless joys. She loved to bake and to fill her home with the comfort of food lovingly prepared. She found fulfillment in entertaining others, creating gatherings where laughter and warmth always overflowed. She was an accomplished seamstress who could transform fabric with her skilled hands. She loved to sing, her voice carrying joy to those around her, and she played the piano with heartfelt devotion. A natural artist, she expressed herself through painting, decorating, and writing poetry. She had a gift for telling jokes and lightening the atmosphere with her humor. Every aspect of her life reflected a heart that delighted in creating beauty and sharing joy with others.
She was a devoted mother to her five children: Rhonda Cashion, Mike Simpson (deceased), Cathy McDowell and her husband Ronnie, Claudia Winters and her husband Terry, and Stewart Parker (deceased). Her children were her pride and joy, and she poured into them a lifetime of wisdom, love, and guidance.
Her blessings multiplied through the generations. Bettye was the cherished grandmother of seven; Heath McDowell and his wife Melissa, Heather Addicks, Angie Semac and her husband Nick, Ashley Greenwald and her husband Matt, Lance Cashion and his wife Catherine, Bailey Miller and Tanner Simpson. She also had twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored, and the extraordinary blessing of eleven great-great-grandchildren. To all of them she was not just a matriarch, but a teacher, encourager, and loving constant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Clementine Stewart; her brothers Jake Genador, Travis Stewart, and Jessie Stewart; her sister Dorothy Stewart-McDowell; her sons Mike Simpson and Stewart Parker; and many other cherished loved ones.
Bettye lived her life with a rare combination of strength and gentleness. She wove together her faith, her talents, and her love for her family into a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She sang through sorrows, baked through celebrations, and created beauty wherever she went. She will be remembered for her generosity, her humor, her artistry, and most of all, her boundless love.
Though she has departed this life, her memory will remain ever bright in the lives of those she touched. Her family rejoices in the knowledge that she is now at peace, reunited with those who went before her, and welcomed into the arms of her Savior.
