In Loving Memory of Barbara Nell Ramons-Solis
May 5, 1951 – June 14, 2025

Barbara Nell Ramons-Solis, a woman of rare grace, bottomless compassion, and extraordinary artistry, passed peacefully from this world on June 14, 2025, in Haltom City, Texas. She was 74 years young, though her spirit held the timeless joy and enduring strength of generations.

Born on May 5, 1951, in Gray County, Texas, Barbara came into the world as the cherished daughter of Fredrick Roy Dake and Barbara June Burton-Dake. From the very beginning, her life shimmered with warmth and wonder. She was raised in Lake Worth, Texas, where the seeds of faith, family, and fierce creativity were planted deeply within her. She graduated from Lake Worth High School and was baptized into the Baptist church, beginning what would become a lifelong walk with the Lord—a path she traveled with unshakable devotion and quiet radiance.

Barbara was one of four children and enjoyed the lifelong bond with her sister. Her love for family blossomed early, and shortly after high school, she married and began raising children in the close-knit town of Kerens, Texas. It was during those early years that she not only raised her own family but opened her heart and home to others—becoming a foster mother to Shiloh, Mark, Tammy, Helen Ruth, Elizabeth, and Norma Jean. Her boundless compassion and capacity for love knew no limits. Barbara didn't just mother; she nurtured. She created sanctuaries of comfort and care for children who needed more than shelter—they needed her.

After her first marriage ended, Barbara's story took a turn toward true love when she met Raymond Ramons. Their union was a blessing, and together they made their way back to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where laughter, love, and purpose filled their days. When Barbara was widowed, she eventually moved to California, where she met a kindred soul in Bill Solis. Their time together, though not eternal on Earth, was profoundly meaningful. After Bill's passing in 2021, she returned once more to Texas, accompanied by her beloved son Billy.

Barbara was a woman of many talents, all of them pursued with humility, passion, and astonishing skill. A lifelong artisan, she had a gifted hand and a visionary eye. Her creations—dolls lovingly crafted, garments spun and woven from raw fibers, quilts stitched with care and memory, and baked confections that rivaled the creations of pastry chefs—were nothing short of masterworks. She brought the same dedication and joy to her silversmithing and gemstone work in her later years, as a proud member of the Arlington Gem and Mineral Club. There, she found joy not only in learning the intricate art of stone and metal, but also in the fellowship of fellow artisans. Her handcrafted jewelry was more than adornment—it was legacy, memory, and love formed into metal and stone.

Barbara's artistic gifts were rivaled only by the generosity with which she shared them. Whether it was a handmade quilt, a necklace crafted from polished turquoise, or a plate of freshly baked treats that could have won blue ribbons at the State Fair, everything she created was an offering of love. And to step into her home was to step into a sacred space—a place where everyone was welcome, where stories were shared over cups of tea and slices of cake, and where you were always reminded that you mattered.

Her heart was endlessly expansive. She gave freely of her time, her talent, and her presence. Barbara embodied the purest form of hospitality—she made space for others not just in her home, but in her heart. To know her was to be seen, to be cherished, and to be uplifted.

A devout Christian, Barbara's faith was her compass and her comfort. She was a faithful member of Twin Baptist Church and lived her days with grace and rooted in scripture and the love of her Savior. She passed from this life just as she had always hoped to—with peace, dignity, and the blessed assurance of her place in eternity. She went to sleep in her own bed and woke up in heaven.

Barbara leaves behind a beautiful and sprawling legacy of love. She is survived by her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Debby and Jeff Williams; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Valerie Dake; her children: Angie Peters and her wife Tana LeBlanc, Patience Castillo and her husband Daniel, Jacqueline Labaube and her husband Tommy, Janiscia Jackson, James Peters and his wife Tina and Jack Peters and his wife Barbara; and her son, Billy Solis. She is also survived by the many children she fostered, mentored, and uplifted throughout her life, and a wide circle of extended family and treasured friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and June Dake; her brother, John Dake; her husbands, Raymond Ramons and love of her life Bill Solis.

Barbara's graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Azleland Cemetery, where we will honor the life of a woman who was more than a mother, wife, sister, or friend—she was a force of nature, a woman of extraordinary faith, and a blessing to all who knew her.

On a personal note, Barbara was not just a wonderful person—she was a rare soul. She graced every room she entered with kindness, wisdom, and peace. She walked with the Lord, and it showed in every word she spoke, every gift she gave, and every smile she offered. She was a friend, in the truest sense of the word, and her presence will be profoundly missed.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that she has been welcomed home by her Creator, where joy is eternal and pain is no more. And somewhere in heaven, we imagine she's already spinning golden threads, baking celestial cakes, and making a place at the table for everyone she loves.

Rest well, sweet Barbara. You were a light in this world—and that light will never be extinguished.
