In Loving Memory of Amye Leigh Read
1980 - 2025
It is with great great sadness that the family of Amye Leigh Read announce her passing. Amye Leigh Read, 44, passed away peacefully holding hands with her mother and sister on Saturday January 25, 2025 in Azle Texas Amye was born on September 17,1980 to Marvin Ray Read Jr. and Sharon Lee Woodard in Fort Worth, Texas. To know Amye was to love her, if she met you one time you knew you were loved by her instantly. She never met a stranger and always saw the best in everyone. She touched everyone's life that she came in contact with and I promise you, you became a better person after meeting her. Amye loved her people deeply but I think animals trumped us all. When it came to animals especially dogs and cats nothing else mattered and as much as she loved them, they all loved her more. Amye came into this world fighting; she fought and defined all odds. When the doctors would tell her she wouldn't be here to see certain birthdays as a child and as an adult, Amye said "WATCH THIS". She fought battles that no one should ever have to fight her whole life but she always did it with a smile. She fought her toughest fight January 18th thru January 25 th , until our Precious Lord told her no more, I got you now, you can finally rest. As sad as the family is and as much as we will all miss her immensely, we find peace in knowing she is whole again in our Saviors loving arms and that we will see her again. She is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Willie Duncan, Marvin Read Sr, and Roy Boswell; her Nonnie, Norma Price; her grandmother, Shirley Duncan; her uncles, Ronald Read and Tommy Duncan; and her brother; Zachary Gober Those left behind to cherish her memory are her mother, Sharon Woodard and husband Kevin of Azle; father, Marvin Read Jr and wife Linny of Bridgeport; 3 sisters, Kayla VanBrunt, Candice Tolliver, and Bree Salazar; 3 brothers, Ty Read, Eric Woodard, and Heath Woodard; grandparents, Gay Boswell of Bridgeport, Dana Read of Bridgeport; nephews, Cayden VanBrunt, Cruz Salazar, Caz Salazar, and Briggs Woodard; nieces, Brittyn Woodard and Cali Salazar; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. Melvin Clay and Michael Morris will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will include her cousins: Lance Petty, Davy Duncan, Keith Jenkins, Kyle Jenkins, Cody Duncan, Tyler Duncan, Justin Duncan, and Colton Cowen.
Amye will have a public visitation on Friday, January 31st @ 9:00 AM at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home. Following the visitation, her service will begin @ 10:00 AM. Afterwards, a committal service will be held on the grounds of Azleland Cemetery & Memorial Park, located at 850 N. Cardinal Rd, Azle TX 76020.
