Alma Ann Sands

1948 - 2022

Alma Ann McConnell was born to Edgar and Letha McConnell on November 11, 1948, in Fort Worth Texas.  Alma was part of a very close and loving family and lived on the same street with her parents, brother, sister, maternal and paternal grandmothers, and one great uncle for 46 years until moving to Royse City, Texas in 1994.  She worked for many years as a secretary and completed her career working as a loyal employee for Walmart.
Alma was a loving mother and a faithful servant of God.  She attended Christ Gospel church for over 40 years. She was well-known for her prayers for others and her willingness to self-sacrifice.  She was sweet and kind and believed in turning the other cheek.  She never had a harsh word to say about anyone.  Alma wrote the equivalent of many novels in the form of notes taken from sermons.  She was a true Bible scholar and openly shared her love of Jesus with all.

She is preceded in death by her brother Lowell McConnell and is survived by her sister Bonnie Hodges.  Alma also leaves behind her husband of 33 years Raymond Sands, four children: Leslie Sparacello, Lana Foster, Christina Richendollar, and Mark Sands, 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.  She was known as Mami, Nanny, or mamaw Texas.  Being a dedicated grandmother was her greatest joy and her banana bread, oatmeal cookies, and waffles were the source of many a friendly family competition for her love.  Truly there was no need for competition, for she gave of herself to all.... unconditionally.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Christ Gospel Church of Dallas.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, beginning at 10:00 AM at Christ Gospel Church of Dallas.

Interment at Azleland Cemetery.
