In Loving Memory of Alice Faye Sosebee-Brister

Alice Faye Sosebee-Brister, born on March 8, 1940, left this world on December 18, 2023. She is survived by her devoted husband, David Stanley Brister Sr., her cherished children David Brister Jr. and wife Penny, Melissa Peysen, and Phillip Brister and wife Diana.

A remarkable woman whose life was a tapestry of passion, dedication, and love. From her childhood, Alice demonstrated a unique talent for playing the organ, mastering the instrument without the ability to read music. Her self-taught approach, using symbols and triangles, showcased her determination and creativity.

Alice's musical journey led her to play the organ at various churches, where she shared her love for Jesus with anyone who would listen. Growing up Pentecostal, she embraced different denominations throughout her life and, alongside her husband, devoted over 20 years to a ministry with Southern Baptist affiliates.

In her professional life, Alice served as a transcriber for different doctors at various hospitals until her well-deserved retirement. Her strong work ethic reflected her commitment to her family, whom she cherished above all else.

Alice was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, excelling in her role with unmatched dedication. Her marriage of 57 years to David Brister was a testament to her loyalty and enduring love. Their journey began on September 23, 1967, and within 19 days, they were engaged. On December 15, 1967, they exchanged vows and started their family in a mobile home in Fort Worth, Texas.

Her culinary skills were a source of joy for her loved ones. From her famous chicken and dumplings to savory roasts, beans, and pork chops, Alice's cooking was a reflection of the warmth and love she poured into every aspect of her life.

As we remember Alice Faye Sosebee Brister, let us celebrate a life marked by faith, love, and unwavering dedication to family and community. May her legacy of resilience and love continue to inspire us all.

Alice's legacy extends to her beloved grandchildren: David Levi Brister and wife Maria, Rachel Brister, Ariel and husband George Fraire, Alicia and husband Jack Brownrigg, Jesse and wife Britton Gonzales, and Gilbert Gonzales. Her great-grandchildren, Oliver Gonzales, Talan Gonzales, and Emma Brister, brought joy to her later years.

Her sisters and their families also mourn her passing. Alice will be remembered for her warmth, love, and the enduring connections she forged with family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 27, starting at 9 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10 AM. As we bid farewell to Alice, may her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
