William Courtenay DeLorme, III, 76, the world’s most loving, most loved, and smartest husband, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, left this world to spend eternity with Jesus on Thursday, September 26, 2019.

Courtenay DeLorme was born May 24, 1943, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Claire Youngblood DeLorme and William Courtenay DeLorme, Jr. As a young boy, Courtenay and his family moved to Fort Worth. While growing up in Fort Worth’s Arlington Heights neighborhood, Courtenay participated in many “little boy” sports, including the Soap Box Derby, for which he was named a local and national winner.
Courtenay attended Arlington Heights High School, where he met the love of his life, Julia Proudfit, in 1960. Each of their lives took many turns and they finally married on March 23, 1977. To their combined family of two girls and two boys, Meredith Paige DeLorme (Cherry), their special gift from God, was born on August 13, 1981.
Courtenay’s goal in life was helping others in any way that was possible. He achieved his goal by establishing a stellar career in the insurance industry; by owning his own businesses; and by helping friends repair their cars. Courtenay was a stellar example of God’s grace, love and truth for his children and grandchildren, and he is cherished by all who knew him.
SURVIVORS: Courtenay was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ted DeLorme, and his daughters-at-heart, Melissa Miller Trammell and ShelbyJohnel Wolff. Courtenay is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Julia Proudfit DeLorme; son, Robert DeLorme and wife, Jackie; daughter, Meredith DeLorme Cherry and husband, Scott; sister, Kathryne DeLorme; brother, Charlie DeLorme; grandchildren: Kimber Trammell, Stormie Lamb Bernal, Heaven Lamb, Rainie Lamb, Autumn DeLorme, Justice Childers, Braden Cherry, Adison Bryant, and Cameron Lamb; and great-grandchildren: Liam Chavez, Tyler Childers, and Jacob Childers, Brantlee Utah Dickson, Leiloni Lucile Dixon, Adylynne Johnel Laymance.
