Viva Oran Obituary

Viva "Renee" Oran
1954 - 2019

Viva Renee “Bunny” (Trussell) Oran, 65, entered into her Heavenly Home on August 19, 2019 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was at home surrounded by family and friends.

Renee was born on January 5, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas to her parents, J.R. and Betty Trussell. Renee felt her calling early in life and realized she wanted to serve. She started her career as a candy striper at Fort Worth Osteopathic Medical Center, where she received an award from the American Red Cross for 360 hours of volunteer service.  At 17, she received the Teen Volunteer of the Year award from Tarrant County.

She met Robert “Robbie” Oran working at the butcher counter of the local grocery. Soon after being married on June 26, 1970 at Beach Street Baptist Church, they moved to Azle and began building a home and family.

Her strong desire to serve would later enroll her in nursing school, and she graduated as an L.V.N. at St. Joseph’s Nursing School in 1984.  She loved nursing and enjoyed her time as a Hospice Care nurse. She loved to laugh and enjoyed seeing others laugh and for a time was known as “Apples the Clown” – clowning it up alongside her oldest son and daughter.

She twice served as Worthy Matron at the Lake Worth Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She served from 2001-2002 and again from 2017-2018. She was an ordained minister, a member of the Daughters of the Nile, and the Red Hats Society.

Service and dedication to her family was without a doubt her biggest virtue. She was blessed with a large family of four children, eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren with two on the way.

Renee was always very active in her community and in October 2015, she received an award from the Texas State Senate for her dedicated service to the City of Azle. That same year she was recognized by the city of Azle for sharing her talents and time on the Parks and Recreation Board.

A devout Christian, Renee was also very active in her church where she played the keyboard and sang.

Renee is preceded in death by her parents, Betty and J.R. Trussell, both of Fort Worth.

Renee is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Robbie Oran; her son, Robert Oran of Mexico City, Mexico; her daughter, Rhonda Holder and husband, Rodney of Azle, Texas; her daughter Rebecca Mitchell and husband, Jimmy of Reno, Texas; her son, Jason Oran and wife, Renee of Reno, Texas. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, her sisters, Rita Langston, Tonya Trapple and brothers Bill and Duane Trussell.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 beginning at 9:00 AM at Azle and Lake Worth Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The address for the visitation and funeral is 850 North Cardinal Road, Azle, Texas 76020. A graveside committal will follow the funeral service at Azleland Cemetery. Reverend Bill Gay will officiate the services.
