Richard “Rich” Sirken
Rich Allen Sirken passed away on June 6, 2018, a day before his 72nd birthday. He spent his last few days surrounded by family, laughing and telling stories, some of which may even be true.
Born in St. Louis, MO, Rich attended the University of Missouri, graduated with a degree in Forestry Management and practiced forestry and land management for 30 years before his retirement at 55. After his retirement and uninterested in slowing down, he became a paramedic, riding ambulances for a couple of years with young people 30 years his junior. He then decided to ‘help the helpless’ by working at Home Depot for a year, enjoying his time instructing the many DIY and ‘weekend warrior’ men and women attempting to dive into home project management. Eventually, he settled into a second career at Weber State University in Ogden, UT, doing land acquisitions and management. Rich served in his church for most of his adult life, trying to be a devoted follower of his religious principles.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara; his children, Justine and husband Don, Yvonne and husband Jon, Gabrielle and husband Chris, Jonathan, and 16 grandchildren.
