Richard Joe Cantu Sr.
1944 – 2018

Richard Joe Cantu Sr. entered into rest on November 13th, 2018 in Crowley, Texas.  Richard was born July 7th, 1944 to his parents, Fred Geary Cantu and Tommie Nanes Cantu in Dallas, Texas.

Richard’s memory shall remain in our hearts forever.  Richard was a true Cowboys fan and even worked for the Organization during the Tom Landry era.  He also enjoyed playing and watching baseball.  Richard found great joy playing with his grandsons, Gabriel and Michael.  Richard was a wonderful percussionist who enjoyed the playing the Timbales, Conga and other drums in church where he loved to serve the Lord.  Richard had a very strong work ethic that kept him very active.  Richard gave with his heart.  He enjoyed watching Roy Rogers and spending time with family.  He graduated from Kimball Highschool class of 1963 and onto Navarro Junior College where he excelled in the classroom and on the baseball field for the two years he attended. Richard started working for General Motors in 1966 and remained until his retirement of 31 years.  He appreciated the beauty in nature especially that of Nicaragua. There, he graduated from Universidad Martín Lutero with a degree in theology.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Adelma Cantu; his sons, Matthew, Ricky and Jimmy Cantu; his daughters, Christy Cantu and Fatima Romo; his grandsons, Gabriel and Michael; his brother, Fred Cantu; along with other loving family members and friends.
