Joanna Kay Lacy
1945 – 2019
Joanna Kay Monks Lacy passed away into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on April 13, 2019. Joanna was born on September 13, 1945 to her parents, Sylvanus N. Monks and Julia M. Whitinger-Monks in Lafayette, Indiana.
Joanna will be remembered as a dedicated servant to her Lord and Savior and the First United Methodist Children’s Ministry. She was so proud of her lovely daughters. They were four independent, super daughters. Joanna had many talents and personal achievements including winning “Miss Personality” in the 1961 Miss Fort Worth contest. She had a servant’s heart and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed traveling, caring for children and making people feel special or good about themselves.
Joanna is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Gary Lacy; her daughter, Kimberly Hall and husband, Ray Jr.; her grandchildren, Robert Hall, Ryan Hall, Raelee Hall and Reed Hall; her daughter, Kristen Laramore and husband, Monte; her daughter, Kerrie Joplin-Bell and husband, John Bell; her daughter, Shayna Lacy; her sister, Juana Monks; her sister, Judith Armstrong; her sister, Maurya Weddel and husband Rockey; her brother-in-law, Roy Lacy and wife, Betty Lacy. Joanna is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joanna is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvanus Monks and Julia Monks.
