“Charlie”
1928 – 2018
Charles William Rogers was called to be with the Lord on June 22, 2018. Charlie was born in El Paso, Texas on July 1, 1928 to his parents, Robert Clyde Rogers and Mildred Lillian Learmonth.
Charlie earned a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University and went on to work for General Dynamics for 18 years and Bell Helicopter for 5 years. He was an innovator in composite materials and designed the fill wing for General Dynamics as well as assisting in the design to the rotor blade for the V-22 helicopter. Charlie was passionate about sailing. He was a competition sailor, even competing in the Gulf Coast Annual Emerald Regatta. Charlie loved his family and all the memories made while spending precious time together.
Charlie is survived by his Wife, Liz Rudolph; Anne Christensen, Phil Rogers, Susan Rogers, Karen Ekstrom, Bob Rogers, Tracy Stewart, Kristen Scanlon, Susie Roth, Linda Rudolph, Harry Rudolph, Richard Rudolph; Twenty-two grandchildren; Three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; along with many other loving family members and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roberts and Mildred Rogers, and his brother, Billy Rogers.
Though we are saddened by our loss of a wonderful husband and father, our hearts are lightened by our knowledge of his presence in Heaven.
