Carl Snider Obituary

Carl Nathon Snider, affectionately known as Nathon, was born on May 29, 1934, in San Angelo, Texas, to Sirous Snider and Agnes McKinney Snider. He peacefully departed from this world on March 23, 2024, in Azle, Texas.

Growing up in River Oaks, Texas, Nathon found his greatest joys in the love of his family and the adrenaline rush of the dirt track. Together with his brother Richard, Nathon played a pivotal role in helping his brother manage various racetracks in the area, including Boyd raceway and Cowtown Speedway, where their shared passion for speed and excitement thrived.

Nathon’s resilience was legendary. Despite enduring numerous injuries, including broken ribs, a fractured back, and a hip mishap, his indomitable spirit and unwavering determination never faltered. His toughness was matched only by his dedication to his craft as a Glazer, contributing to iconic projects in Fort Worth by installing glass in towering buildings. It was well known what a hard worker he was, and he labored, working various jobs including showing off his carpentry skills until his 85th year.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Nathon cherished time spent with his family, whether running a concession stand at the flea market with his children or creating cherished memories through constantly going on camping and fishing trips with his kids. He was a terrific father, who always managed to find time for his children, no matter how hard he worked.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Ormsbee and her husband, Ron; his daughter, Shelley Franklin; His daughter, Tammy Scoggin, and her husband Buddy; his daughter-in-law Paula Snider; along with his grandchildren Kay, Trey, Chrissy, Allyson, Holly, Micheal, Kaleb, Troy, and Samantha, were the heartbeats of his life.

In addition to his immediate family, Nathon’s legacy extends to his 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as his loving brothers, Bert and Richard Snider. He now rests in eternal peace, reunited with his son Skitter Snider, his parents Sirous and Agnes, his siblings Lois Walters, Frances Green, and James Snider, and countless extended family and friends who preceded him in death.

A graveside celebration of Nathon’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, with visitation at the Graveside starting at 2 PM at Azleland Cemetery. As we honor Nathon’s memory, let us carry forward the enduring spirit of love and resilience that he exemplified throughout his remarkable life.
